Hello everyone! Hope you’re all having a lovely day. Here’s my book review.
Goodreads Summary: Nothing ever happens in the town of Long Thorpe – that is, until sixteen-year-old Summer Robinson disappears without a trace. No family or police investigation can track her down. Spending months inside the cellar of her kidnapper with several other girls, Summer learns of Colin’s abusive past, and his thoughts of his victims being his family…his perfect, pure flowers. But flowers can’t survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out…
This book had so much potential, although at the end I completely lost interest. First of all, the relationship between the main character, Summer, and her boyfriend, Lewis, is completely sappy and unreal. Also, the story ended abruptly. The tension was building, and all of the sudden it was very choppy and pieces were missing. It was all so confusing and such a mess at the end. There was also no real backstory for the other characters. I wish the author would have told us more about Clover and the relationship with his mom which lead to his desire for the perfect family. I would have also liked to known more about Rose and Poppy as well. Again, there was a lot of potential for this story, but it seemed rushed and not very well-thought out by the end. Also, there were several typos, as well as a lot of unanswered questions that could easily have been addressed.
I would recommend passing on this book.
