Hello guys! I am currently a part of my first EVER read along, and we are reading Elise Kova’s The Alchemists of Loom, which is pretty good so far! In our read-along group, we are reading a couple of chapters a day, discussing the book, and winning some giveaways (well I haven’t yet, but I hope to)! If you want to check out our group, then click here for the Facebook group!
If you are part of the read-along, here is today’s bonus content! I have today the timeline of the events that led up to and are in The Alchemists of Loom! History, woo hoo! If you’re a history buff like me, especially about historical, dystopian, or fantastic worlds, then you’ll like this!
Author’s Note from Elise:
One of the first things I do when developing a new world is work on the calendar. Once I have that, I can begin my timeline. A lot of my world building comes from asking questions of “Why?” For example… “Why do they think this way?” “Why do they wear that?” “Why do they do that?” The answers to many of these cultural questions come from the history of the world and its peoples. Because of this, a timeline is one of the other initial things I develop while building a world. This is a timeline of some major events (not all! You’ll find out more in THE DRAGONS OF NOVA) leading up to and throughout THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM.
Kester’s Note:
If you want to know how the time and dates work for the world of Loom and Nova, then check out The Bookish Crypt’s post here!
About the Book
Title: The Alchemists of Loom (Loom Saga, #1)
Publication Date: January 10th, 2017
Publisher: Keymaster Press
Author: Elise Kova
Genre(s): Adult (YA Crossover), High-Fantasy, Steampunk
Summary: Her vengeance. His vision.
Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gift for clockwork machinery in tandem with notoriously unscrupulous morals to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer turned thief, and her magical talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors.
Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins.
When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go.
He offers her the one thing Ari can’t refuse: A wish of her greatest desire, if she brings him to the Alchemists of Loom.
